Abstract:

Background Biological and cognitive changes has a big impact in children bodies and minds. The set of biological changes involved in reaching physical and sexual maturity is universal. These biological changes take place for young people everywhere although with differences in timing and in cultural meanings. When the hormone controlling physical development is activated in early puberty, most children undergo a growth spurt, develop primary and secondary sex characteristics. The secondary sex characteristics appear parallel with physical development, especially with body weight, height and adipose tissue thickness.

 

Aim of the study Our study is focused on analyzing secondary sex characteristics in children age group 6-15,in Cepo area, Gjirokastra City

 

Materials and Methods This limited study with random sampling, analyze data collected in age group between 6-15, middle childhood and early adolescence.

 

Conclusions The secondary sex characteristics in children of Cepo area, is more delayed compared to same ages groups in other western countries and Turkey. The secondary sex characteristics in females appear earlier than in males. The secondary sex characteristics appear parallel with physical development, especially with body weight, height and adipose tissue thickness.
